The Summer Food Serving Program (SFSP) is federally funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and state-administered in Florida by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Service (FDACA). The intent of the SFSP is to bridge the gap in nutrition during the summer months by serving nutritious meals to children while school is not in session.
Potter's House Community Development (PHCD), is a state sponsor for the SFSP, with the mission to envision the community where every youth needs nurturing, one to one relationships and community support; which in turn allows each of them to develop into their full potential. As a sponsor for the SFSP, PHCD runs the program at the local level and communicate with the state agency.
PHCD is in partnership with Apartment Complexes, Churches and Summer Camps as feeding sites for children to participate in the summer break spot. During this time children receive "FREE" nutritious summer meals (breakfast, lunch & snacks) along with activities that spark curiosity and inspire learning in reading, math, science, food nutrition and art that will keep them active and healthy during the summer months.
